Yikes--tired kids waiting for the plane!

At the airport, too early

We got to the airport early...to wait in line! Yeap...the ticket counters are closed. I could have had an extra hour of sleep. Two hours total would have been nicer than the one I had. Standing in front of the first class counter (we're first class to San Fran), and it's pretty. All the stations have fresh flowers and there are Christmas wreaths hanging up. Two machines down there are no flowers and no wreaths. I guess only first class passengers deserve beauty. Hahaha! Anyway, a human just showed up, so we're going to check in!!! Let vacation begin!

Back home

The Cohens landed safely in Denver on Thursday. The cats were very excited to have us home, but I swear they yelled at us for a while.

Eric and I read most of the Percy Jackson series in Mexico, so we were really excited to get back to Denver and go see the movie. The movie SUCKED. I can't emphasize the word "sucked" enough. Not sure what it would have been like if you didn't read the books, but we almost walked out. The movie wasn't anything like the book. But what can ya do? Suck it up, read the first book again, and hopefully that drowns the visuals out from the movie. :)

Being home is good. It's nice to ease back into the "real world"...slowly. Today is my grandmother's service, followed by a reception. Tomorrow we are meeting our friends who moved out of state and their new baby girl! YAY BURNS FAMILY!

Anyway, we're back. :)

3/3/2010: Day 10

Today is definitely our last day. Eric tried absolutely everything to get us on a Saturday flight, but it would have been a ridiculous amount of money. so, we're coming home tomorrow.

This morning we woke up and laid around reading the news online, drinking coffee, and trying to get our flights changed. Then we went to the grand breakfast buffet and gorged. Oh my goodness--the food is so good. Sadly, I have gained weight on this vacation. Not much, but still....

Later we hit the beach and the pool, to soak up a few more rays. We didn't stay in direct sunlight too long as we are still smoking from yesterday. HA HA HA!

Then we went to Las Brisas for our final lunch in Mexico. Tonight we will go to El Puerto for our final dinner here.

It's been one helluva vacation. This place is top notch. The service is amazing and friendly. Fairmont is the place to stay. :)

I'm starting to pack and Eric is taking a nap. Later we are going to go buy a few more gifts and take care of the bill. Tomorrow morning we get picked up at 10am to head to the airport. We are really looking forward to sharing our trip with everyone!

Take care, Brandy (From Mexico, smiling)

3/2/2010: Day 9

Well, today turned out nothing like we had planned, but it was a great day.

We woke up this morning, expecting to go to Cozumel on a snorkel excursion, but due to winds, they closed the port, so we weren't able to go. Instead, we laid in bed reading Percy Jackon books, drinking coffee. Then we headed out to breakfast. WOW! the breakfast restaurant has an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G buffet, so Eric and I both had that. After stuffing ourselves (in hopes that we could hold off until a late afternoon snack as the breakfast buffet was $25/person) we went to the pool. We arrived at 10:40 and left around 3:40pm. You guessed it--we are red. :) We both used sunscreen and I took advantage of the umbrella frequently, but I am still burned in a few places. We read most of the day. It was awesome. The pool we went to was a new one for us. The adult infinity pool had the nicest lounge chairs, which is why I think were there for 5 hours. At about 3:00pm-ish I took off to the cafe to sit under the shade and play sudoku and a few other logic puzzle games. I can't take nearly as much sun as Eric can.

After the sun and the pool, we went back to the restaurant we had breakfast at, had some chips and guac and a drink each, and headed back to the suite.

Eric has been reading and is now watching soccer, and I've been registering for 2010 races. What an expensive adventure! :) Boulder Sprint was $91 with fees and all. What a rip off! :)

Tonight we are going to a late dinner at El Puerto.

We're still crossing our fingers that United will be able to change our tickets to allow us to stay another two days, but it's looking less and less hopeful. We are super bummed. Staying in Mexico for two more days would be soooooooooo great. We just aren't ready to leave. But, if the flights are full, they're full. Sad. Sad. Sad.

If we have to go home on Thursday, as originally planned, tomorrow is our last full day to enjoy the sun and fun. That is also sad. We're very thankful for the experience, though.

Keep your fingers crossed that we can stay two more days!!

Hope you are enjoying the blog!
