Looking back...December 11, 2010
We woke up on December 11 pretty tired from our night fishing excursion the night before. It was a good excursion. Brandy caught a big red snapper, which would be lunch later on the 11th.
But first we had to go dive. Why we scheduled a night excursion and a two tank dive the following morning is beyond me. Never again, though! Vacation is for being relaxed, not exhausted!
The dives went well. We were with Julia. As with every dive, we also see different fish than we've seen before. Diving is hard to write about without photos...since it's visually overwhelming down there. There are so many fish and creatures to see, it's hard to remember everything. Brandy slept between dives. We were really tired!
After the dives, we laid out in the sun for an hour and a half at the infinity pool on the main island, while we waited for our 2pm lunch reservations. At 2pm, we walked a few steps to Rangali Bar and told them we were ready for our cooked red snapper from the night before. The waiter commented that he had seen the fish, and it was indeed pretty big! (See, Jessica! I don't need photos!! My peeps here will vouch for me!) And while on this topic, since we didn't get photos of the fish alive, I am attaching a photo of it on a plate, about to be devoured!
The rest of the day we slept, until it was time for Lobster and Champagne dinner. I'll make a post of just photos for that. It was $230 (+10%) for each of us. We got a bottle of champagne and a ridiculous amount of lobster buffet. There were numerous stations of food. desserts, salads, cold seafood, lobster/scallops/shrimp and octopus on the grill. We ate A LOT of food. Ugh. But it was delicious. "Special" dinners are a signature here. That's why you pay out the ass for them.
Overall, I can't think of anything else we might spend over $500 on, though. Maybe more scuba. ;)
When we returned to our villa, our housekeeper had a very, very nice surprise for us! A bed full of beautiful fresh flowers (again) and a "bath experience". It's over $100 to buy one of these! Our bath was filled with hot water and smelly bubbles, with fresh flowers...candles lit..and a bottle of white wine (which was from our island host for our anniversary). The bathtub had a bubble heart! It was about 6 inches high. I don't even know how they do that! But it's soooooo cool! And special.
Words don't do it justice...so here are the photos....
